The discs of the jewel are inspired by the design of an ancient Phoenician-Punic ring from the 4th century BC, discovered in the Tophet of the ancient Phoenician colony of Sulcis. The original golden ring is preserved at the Archaeological Museum of present-day Sant´Antioco.
